Advent Wrapdigan – Part 4

Hello my lovely, lovely ones. How are we all? A may be a little brief this week, as we have had a bit of a shocker of a week. There’s been some serious flu, tonsillitis, ankle sprains, headaches, sore throats and the sniffles in the house! Not good! Can’t quite remember a week like it! I am not one for over the counter medicines at all, but I seem to have brought quite a few this week. Poor little man has had a 10day course of penicillin! Which hasn’t been fun for him, poor thing. But he is definitely on the mend! My essential oils have definitely been coming in handy this week & some serious diffusing has been going on. I have been frantically taking my Doterra onguard oil, which seems to be working on the keeping all these germs at bay front! Fingers crossed.

Right down to business. This week is all about the mini square mandala that sit around the main mandala. You need to make 24 in total. So if you are using one of the gorgeous advents, then it’s one of each colour. It’s still using your 4mm crochet hook and it will give you a square that is 8cm by 8cm squared. It’s quite a nice little part of the Wrapdigan, as once you have the hang of the pattern, you can whizz through them. Good luck.

As with many of my patterns, they are all here for you to enjoy. And in exchange for these patterns, I would be very grateful if you could give, however little, a donation to our chosen charity Child Bereavement UK. This is an incredible Charity, whose work is so, so important to the families that need them. So if you can, however small, donate to the charity, in exchange for my pattern, then I would be so grateful. Thank you. Here’s the link to the Just Giving Page.

Yarn over your hook and pull through 2 loops, then yarn over your hook and place your new yarn over the hook as well and pull both through the last 2 loops to finish the tr stitch. Then with your next stitch, just use your new yarn.

Small Square Mandala – Make 24 – one of each colour (Not your grey)

Gauge – 8cm by 8cm Squared.

Round 1 – Make a slip knot and 4ch, ss into first ch to make a ring. 3ch (acts as 1tr), then work 11tr into the ring. Ss into top of first 3ch. (12tr)

Round 2 – Now 1ch and work 1pf and 1ch in first stitch.

[Work 1pf and 1ch in next stitch] 11 times. Ss into the first 1ch. (12pf & 12ch) (See abbreviations above for explanation on how to work a Puff Stitch.)

Round 3 – Now 4ch (acts as 1tr and 1ch) then work 1tr in the same 1chsp (counts as 1rp stitch.) Now work 1rp in each 1chsp in the round and finish by ss into the 4ch. (12rp)

Round 4 – Now 3ch (acts as 1tr) then work 3tr into the same 1chsp and 1ch. [Work 4tr into the next 1chsp and 1ch.] Repeat 11 times. Ss into the first 1ch. (12 x 4tr and 1ch)

[[Work 5tr in the next ch1sp] Repeat twice. Then work 4dtr, 3ch, 4dtr into the ch1sp.] Repeat 3 times. Finally work 4tr in last 1chsp and then ss into the first 3ch and fasten off. (8 x 5tr and 4 x 4dtr, 3ch, 4dtr)

Once you have made 24 mini square mandalas, sew in your ends with the darning needle and scissors and block them. As this may take you a bit, Part 5 will just be seeing them altogether. So don’t panic if it takes you longer than a week to get through them all. There are a lot!

Anyways, have a wonderful rest of the weekend and a great ween ahead. I am seriously hoping for a healthier one in our house!

Happy hooking. Xx
