Elma the Elephant

First Charity PDF Pattern has landed!

Ekk, I am so excited!!

Here she is…

My very first Downloadable Charity PDF Pattern.

Meet Elma the Elephant. She is the most kind & thoughtful little elephant you will ever meet. She is always baking treats for her little friends and is never far away from a cuppa with a chum. Her favourite thing to do is to sit down & write a good story. You never know, you might find one day, that she is a published author, with many children’s books to her name. If you ever get your hands on one of them, you will be in for a real treat.

I am so excited to be starting PipsRainbow’s new chapter. I am really hoping to bring you lots of lovely squishy crochet PDF Patterns, in exchange for a few pennies for charity. My very first charity and pattern are rather close to my heart.

Here’s why…

Six years ago, my daughter started school and made friends with a very brave little girl who had lost her little brother in a traffic accident that summer. Since then, both her and her family have had to come to terms with their tragic loss and the bravery they have shown, has blown me away. During this time, there has been a very special charity called Child Bereavement UK, that has been there through it all and has supported them and helped them to rebuild their lives.

Child Bereavement UK help not only the parents but children as well, to deal with their grief. They also provide training to professionals, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families. Their support has been invaluable to my daughter’s friend and her family and in turn they have worked hard to raise thousands of pounds for this incredible charity.

Each year one of my little crocheted creations has been entered into their infamous charity silent auction at their annual quiz & I am so happy that it tends to raise over a hundred pounds each time. This year it was Elma the Elephant, so I just couldn’t resist sharing her pattern with you all, in the hope that we can raise some more money for Child Bereavement UK.

I would be truly humbled for any of you who are downloading my Elma pattern, to donate to this incredible charity. So that we can continue to raise money and allow them to carry on providing the invaluable support to so many families across the country.

Please give what you can, but I think the recommended donation would be around the £5 mark or higher if you are able to.

Thank you so much in advance for your help in supporting this incredible charity.

Let’s see how much we can raise for them.

This little elephant is a great pattern for any crochet lovers or beginners alike. It uses the simple Amigurimi method of crocheting in the round and is easy to follow. Don’t forget you can make Elma in two different sizes. I made the Quiz Elephant using Aran weight wool and a 5.5mm crochet hook, but the main PDF pattern, the grey elephant is made with DK weight yarn with a 3mm crochet hook.

Hope you enjoy it.

Happy hooking.

Well hello lovely ones…

Well hello my lovely ones. how are we all? Gosh, it has been far too long since I have said hello to you. I have no idea where the time goes. It vanishes. Before we know it, it will be the summer holidays. Crazy. How are we all? Hope you are all ready for the Jubilee. There seems to be quite a lot going on in our area, which is nice. So good to see our community getting together and spending time together.

Time. It’s one thing that I never seem to have enough of. It seems to slip through my hands, as if it is slippery soap that I can’t quite hold on to.

I am currently sitting in a soft play area after taking my little boy swimming. And as he is old enough now not to need me in the soft play with him. So I find myself sitting outside just with a cuppa & no WIP in my hand. Now I know that usually, this would be absolutely fine for the majority of people, but why do I feel like I have a part of me missing! Does anyone else feel like that? I have a moment to myself & I weirdly feel a little lost. I think it’s due to that the fact that I have so much to do at home & can’t do while I am sitting here. Or is it that if I am not doing a job, while my kids are playing happily, I could be crocheting or knitting! Hmm, it seems to be a case of mummy house guilt or yarn guilt. Is that a thing? I swear it is! Well, I have a funny feeling that I need to keep a few mini WIP’s in most of my bags & it turns out, even my swimming bag!! Haha! Worrying I know, but that’s just how it is!! Maybe a sock knit… hmmm or a crochet wrist warmer….. ooo the possibilities. I really should have had one of the beauties with me. It’s my advent yarn from the wonderful Yarn Badger and it is knitting up a storm. Can’t wait to wear these in the autumn!!

I do have quite a few projects on the go at the moment. They seem to be coming out of my ears at the minute! Sometimes I think I need to shut my eyes & ears to all things yarny in the outside world & concentrate on what I need & want to do. But the thing is, these extremely clever hand dyers just keep pulling me back in! The colours are just incredible at the minute and so hard to resist. I think the main problem is that I see so many possibilities in each and every one of them. So it’s hard to not just buy them all. Heyho, sure it is a predicament that most yarny lovers find themselves in.

Well, I am going to sign off now, as my little man is ready for home. Hope you all have a lovely day. i may have some exciting news to share this week, so watch this space… Ekk!!

Happy hooking!
